Jesus responded to questions and needs - do I?

Aren't the churches better at doing this than you are?
Good point! Many of them are, particularly in their local area. But they do not always manage to use the God given talents of all their members to the best advantage.
Members fill the needs of maintaining the local work and witness, when they could make a more significant difference elsewhere.
At least the various options could be weighed prayerfully.
What is more, only about one in four of those who believe in God also attend church each week.
For the sake of the others, we need to present wider opportunities to enable them to fit in with God's plan for their lives.

Aren't the charities a good expression of God's practical love for the world?
Yes they are! That's why we hope to use these pages to advertise their needs. However there is not a charity to cover every need in every area of the world. With limited funds, they often have to concentrate on particular needs in a structured way and leave other needs untouched.
Even though you volunteer your services to work with them in a particular area, they may not be able to accept you.
Many charities started off when one or two people saw a need, and realised they had the skills to help.

Isn't most voluntary work inefficient? Isn't it better to pay for a professional to do it properly?
I wish there were sufficient professionals, and sufficient funds to pay them to meet all the world's needs.
I would agree that where a government agency is acting to meet a need with trained staff it is unwise to compete.
Let God lead you to a need that is low on the priorites of others.
